Two held after drugs found in van

Gardaí have seized drugs worth an estimated €700,000 after a vehicle was stopped at a routine checkpoint.

Gardaí have seized drugs worth an estimated €700,000 after a vehicle was stopped at a routine checkpoint.

The van, which was heading for Dublin on the Naas road, was stopped on Friday afternoon, and 30kg of cannabis herb and 5kg of cocaine were seized.

Two men, aged 59 and 19, were arrested and are being held at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
