A date has been fixed for the trial of a man accused of assaulting Judge Brian Curtin in Tralee last year.

Thomas Hallissey of Mitchels Crescent, Tralee, is pleading not guilty to assaulting Brian Curtin at Castle Street, Tralee, on March 21st, 2004. He is also charged with being intoxicated on that date and in that place.

The accused's solicitor, Joe Mannix, told Judge Terence Finn at Tralee District Court yesterday that Mr Curtin was a judge and the summons should reflect that. Judge Terence Finn refused the application to have Judge Brian Curtin's title reflected on the summons. However, he agreed the date of one summons should be corrected.

The case will be heard on April 6th next.
