Commuters faced traffic disruption in Dublin yesterday morning due to the closure of part of the north quays following an incident in which a pedestrian was seriously injured.

A 26-year-old old man was knocked down by a car at about 3.15am yesterday at Ormond Quay. He was taken to the Mater hospital where he was in a serious condition. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

Gardaí closed the quays between Capel Street and O’Connell Bridge for several hours yesterday morning for a forensic examination.
