David Toms and Kenny Perry produced some superb shots to move to the top of the leaderboard in the Mercedes Championships in Kapalua, Hawaii.

As first-round leader Mike Weir slipped up, Toms carded a seven-under-par 66 and Perry shot a 67 to tie for first place on 11-under-par at 135 at the end of the second round.

Weir scorched the Plantation course in the first round, equalling the record with a 63 that included a 29 on the front nine. But the 31-year-old Canadian carded a one-over 74 today to drop to fourth, two shots off the lead.

Three days ahead of his 26th birthday, PGA Player of the Year Tiger Woods was on four-under 142.
