Time running out for holder of lottery ticket worth over £2.7m

LOTTO fever has taken hold of north Dublin, as the frantic search for old lottery tickets picks up pace

LOTTO fever has taken hold of north Dublin, as the frantic search for old lottery tickets picks up pace. The cause of all the commotion is a winning lottery ticket worth over £2.7 million that if unclaimed by tomorrow evening will be declared void.

If the ticket is not presented to the National Lottery by close of business tomorrow, the prize of £2,713,334 will become the largest unclaimed jackpot in the history of the game. It would bring to nine the number of unclaimed lotto jackpots from across the State and a total of £6,014,109 returned to the players' prize fund. However, even if the winnings are not collected, the prize has still produced a winner.

The owner of the shop in which the ticket was sold, Acorn's Newsagents in Coolock, was still eligible to pick up a bonus of £7,500 for selling the ticket.

The £2 winning ticket was sold at 6.32 p.m. on Saturday, June 30th. It included Lotto Plus, but was not a Quickpick selection. The winning numbers were 2,7,13,15,27,34. The holder of each winning ticket has 90 days to claim their prize, yet to date no one has claimed this jackpot which would make the winner the ninth largest individual winner.
