A 15-year-old girl and two male youths aged 17 were appearing in court today charged with the murder of a teenager who police believe was hacked to death with scythes.

Terry Lee Hurst (17) suffered multiple injuries, including stab wounds, slash wounds, fractures and bruising.

Agricultural scythes were found close to his body, which was discovered near the Bolsterstone Reservoir in Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire, on Tuesday.

Detectives revealed the scythes, which are believed to be 5ft long, may have been used as weapons.

The accused were due at Sheffield Magistrates Court.
