A passenger in a car involved in a crash in Dublin earlier today has died

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, died when the car he was driving went out of control and hit a wall at Ballygall Road East in Ballymun shortly before 7am this morning.

His 21-year-old male passenger died at the Mater hospital this evening.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Gardaí at Ballymun on 01 6664400 or to contact the Garda Confidential Line.

In Gorey, Co Wexford, a 20-year-old female pedestrian died when a car struck her and another young woman on Main Street in the town at about 2.30am.

The car failed to stop.

Both women were taken to Wexford General Hospital where one of them died a short time later. The other woman’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening

A car was discovered burnt out later in the Kilnahue Lane area of Gorey and it is believed that it may have been the car involved in the incident.
