The last few years haven't been Lara Croft's best, and even the most avid fan might admit that the shine was wearing off the franchise. However, Croft is back, and while The Guardian of Lightprobably won't be described as a resurrection of the series, it goes a long way to refreshing what could be deemed a tired title. There are some obvious changes, most notably the ditching of the third-person view in favour of an isometric viewpoint. Croft is on the trail of the Mirror of Smoke, which has been snatched by a mercenary army that release an ancient evil named Xolotl. In Croft's corner is Totec, the Guardian of Light. What follows is what you've come to expect: a mix of battles, puzzles and challenges. If it's a taster of things to come, Croft might be scheduled for a new lease of life.
