SIPTU taxi drivers are calling on the Minister for the Environment to re-engage with them on negotiations for an industry wide agreement for all taxi drivers.

A SIPTU branch secretary Mr Gerry Brennan told ireland.comthat drivers represented by SIPTU had been waiting over five months to engage in direct discussions with Mr Dempsey while the court proceedings taken by the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation and the National Taxi Drivers Union against the State were under way.

He said that in November the Department in a statement to SIPTU said the capital losses to taxi drivers as a result of deregulation would be addressed.
