DISCUSSIONS WILL continue this afternoon between developers behind the stalled €300 million Greystones harbour project and locals who are campaigning to have increased access to the harbour and the waterfront.
Developers Sispar and public sector partner Wicklow County Council are due to meet Greystones town councillors, Wicklow county councillors, members of the group Give Us Back Our Harbour and other interested parties, to hold discussions on how much of the hoarding around the harbour will be taken down.
They will also discuss how much of the redeveloped harbour can be opened to the public, pending the completion of stalled commercial and leisure facilities.
The discussions are being held in advance of tonight's meeting of Greystones Town Council.
They also come in advance of next Sunday's planned "Bucket and Spade" event at the harbour, which organisers say will either be a celebration of agreements reached today or a day of "family-style protest". Events include the appearance of Dustin the Turkey as "King of Greystones Harbour", face painting, balloons, finger food and soft drinks in the Beach House pub and live music.
