Stockholm - Sweden came to a halt for a minute yesterday to remember 63 teenagers killed when fire roared through a packed disco in the western city of Gothenburg late last month.
Parliament stopped work for one minute at 2 p.m. as flags were lowered, taxi-drivers stood by their cars at the roadside, manual trading halted on the Stockholm stock exchange and offices fell silent.
Rescue workers found a small room with 26 bodies tangled together under a row of high windows which could have spelt survival. Mobile phones were still ringing in their pockets.
