A young man who buggered a mentally handicapped boy in the grounds of a north Dublin school received a 2 1/2 -year suspended sentence from Judge Elizabeth Dunne. The 22-year-old man pleaded guilty to one count of buggery between September 30th, 1996, and December 31st, 1996. The victim was 13 at the time. The man cannot be named for legal reasons.

Det Garda Joseph Enright said the two met at the gates of Our Lady of Consolation school in Donnycarney, Dublin. The defendant dragged the boy into the school grounds.
