A fire that broke out last night in the accommodation buildings of Trinity College Dublin forced some students on campus to be evacuated.

Smoke detectors from Houses 7 and 8 in the Front Square raised the alarm, and college security guards evacuated the students from the buildings. The fire brigade was called to deal with the incident and no fire damage was reported.

Nobody was injured, and students are expected to be able return to their accommodation today.
