An application is to be made in the Supreme Court on Friday for a stay on last Monday's High Court order removing Mrs Margaret Heffernan as executrix of the estate of her late sister, Ms Therese Dunne.

The stay is being sought pending the hearing of an appeal by Mrs Heffernan, chief executive of Dunnes Stores, against the High Court order of Mr Justice Smyth.

The application for the removal of Mrs Heffernan as executrix was brought by her brother, Mr Ben Dunne. A Dublin accountant, Mr Garrett Wren, was appointed by Mr Justice Smyth to administer the estate.
