THE people and Government won a historic victory over the British nuclear industry last month when permission to build an underground nuclear dump in Cumbria was refused, said Mr Emmet Stagg.
The Minister of State had led the team that made and won the case against the British Nuclear Fuels plan for the vast dump, which was to be built on the edge of the Irish Sea.
"By acting decisively rather than paying lip service to the issue we have had a truly historic victory.
"The British nuclear industry has been rocked to its very foundations - we don't intend to allow it to recover," the Minister said.
