The Dublin St Patrick's Day festival cancelled over foot-and-mouth will take place over three days in May, it has been confirmed.
The festival's chief executive Ms Maria Moynihan said the Department of Agriculture had given the go-ahead. Owners of the floats that were due in the cancelled parade have confirmed their participation.
Beginning on May 18th the festival will start at 9.30 p.m. and conclude with the traditional St Patick's Day parade on Sunday from Christ Church to Parnell Square.
The rescheduled festival and parade is expected to attract more than 2,000 performers from around the world.
"There will be a large input from international groups but this festival will be uniquely Irish," Ms Moynihan told ireland.com.
"We are expecting as big an attendance as last year - if not bigger -and all the pageants commissioned in September for the cancelled March festival will participate in May."
Other organisers around the country who also cancelled their festivals in March have yet to announce any new dates for their events.
