St Columb’s Cathedral in Derry, the first post-Reformation cathedral built in the UK and Ireland and the oldest building within the city’s historic walls, was reopened last night after a four-year £3.6 million (€4.1 million) refurbishment.

Northern Ireland’s Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment Arlene Foster were among the congregation at last night’s service of thanksgiving and dedication.

As well as being a place of worship, St Columb’s is also a treasure trove of historical artefacts.
