Eating habits: A small majority of young people have regular meal times and believe they eat a healthy and balanced diet, the poll shows. Some 54 per cent have regular meal times, 45 per cent do not and 1 per cent did not say.

Regular meal times are much more common among children of farmers (66 per cent, followed by the better off ABC1 group (58 per cent) and the less well off C2DEs (49 per cent).

Some 57 per cent agree they have a healthy balanced diet, 38 per cent disagree and 4 per cent gave no opinion. More females (63 per cent) than males (52 per cent) believe their diet is healthy and balanced, while more farmers' children (67 per cent) believe their diet is healthy than do the children of the better off (63 per cent) and of the less well off (50 per cent).

Some 56 per cent disagree with the statement that they prefer to watch sports on television than play it themselves. Some 38 per cent agree and 6 per cent gave no opinion. The older the young people get, the more they prefer sport on television to actual participation, the poll shows.
