Solicitor's clients tried to take car

A solicitor is to defend two men accused of attempting to steal his car. Mr Denis Maloney will today represent the defendants charged with breaking into his BMW in Belfast.

Mr Maloney, who has represented the men in the past, received a call from his clients after they were arrested on suspicion of trying to steal a car.

During the briefing he realised the vehicle in question was his own. He said he felt there was no conflict of interest in defending them. "I think it shows that I am able to detach my personal view and sentiments from my legal responsibilities," he said.
