EVERY nine-year-old in Leitrim is to become an "ambassador of non-smoking" in a campaign introduced yesterday by the Minister of State for Health Promotion, Mr Brian O'Shea.

"Smoke-free Leitrim", an initiative by the North-Western Health Board, hopes to discourage children aged nine to 14 mom smoking. Sonia O'Sullivan is patron of the project. And nine children have recorded a song, I Don't Like Being With People Who Smoke, written specially by Charlie McGettigan. All 450 fourth class pupils in the county participated in yesterday's event.
