Six million cigarettes seized in Rosslare

Almost six million cigarettes have been seized by Customs at Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford.

Almost six million cigarettes have been seized by Customs at Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford.

The cigarettes were concealed in a container of furniture and household goods. A lorry was also seized in the operation.

The cigarettes were valued at €1.7 million and would have cost the Reveunue Commissioners €1.3 million, if sold on the black market.

The lorry arrived from Cherbourg in France on October 10th. The lorry driver - a 47-year-old UK man - was questioned and later released.
