Siptu warns FAI's proposed pay cuts could lead to 'serious industrial action'

Siptu members employed the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) are refusing to accept pay cuts proposed by the body.

The union says its members are rejecting the proposal by the FAI this week to impose a 10 per cent pay cut, a freeze on pension scheme contributions and seven compulsory redundancies.

In a statement last night, Siptu organiser Denis Hynes said union members had already suffered two pay cuts in 18 months and “cannot be expected to take any more”.

“We have referred the issues to the Labour Relations Commission and expect to have a hearing over the coming week to try to resolve what is otherwise going to escalate into serious industrial action by staff at the FAI,” he said.
