SIPTU calls for minimum wage

SIPTU's national industrial secretary, Mr Des Geraghty, yesterday called for a commitment from all political parties to the introduction of a statutory minimum wage. The new British government's commitment to a minimum wage meant that Ireland would now be alone in the EU in not having such standards, he said.
