SIPTU members at Aer Lingus have voted to accept the main terms of the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) rescue package for the struggling airline.

Eighty one per cent voted in favour of the LRC proposals at a ballot yesterday which was counted this afternoon. There was a 64 per cent turnout for the ballot.

Under the terms of the LRC proposals Aer Lingus workers will forego PPF payments, annual increments and a day in annual leave.

A majority of Aer Lingus SIPTU members also voted to accept detailed work practice changes, but some sections rejected the changes proposed in their areas.

According to a statement issued by SIPTU today, the union will be discussing the issues that have arisen in these sections with Aer Lingus management in the coming days.

Members of IMPACT at Aer Lingus have also been balloted and the results are expected tomorrow afternoon.
