THE A-10 Thunderbolt II is arguably the most lethal close-attack plane ever built. This sequel to the original and highly-successful A-10 Tank Killer is basically more of the same but with everything upgraded to take advantage of today's more powerful PCs.

On loading the game it is immediately apparent the graphics are stunning. The scenery and objects are incredibly lifelike - and you can view the action from almost anywhere which makes them even more impressive.

But the game does have flaws. The A-10 is designed for low altitude bombing (i.e. tanks and military installations) and doesn't often go above 3,000 feet. But in the game you physically can't go above that height and if you decide to wander off the beaten track you are told in no uncertain way that you are leaving the mission area and are forced to get back in line. This deliberate restriction of freedom is certainly not to be commended.
