Shots fired at RUC in north Belfast

RUC officers came under fire in north Belfast last night but there were no reports of injuries.

RUC officers came under fire in north Belfast last night but there were no reports of injuries.

Seven or eight shots fired from an automatic weapon were directed at police from the nationalist Halliday's Road. About 25 shots were also fired from the nationalist Newington Avenue across the peace line.

At about 10 p.m. last night two explosions were also heard, one in the Clanvatter Street area and the other in Duncairn Gardens. There were no reports of injuries.
