Sinn Féin have called for the Dáil to debate revelations in a Sunday newspaper indicating British forces were involved in the Dublin/Monaghan bombings.

The Sunday Tribunetoday revealed files showing British security agents were prepared to invoke international law to claim immunity from prosecution over the 1974 bombings that killed 33 people.

Sinn Féin TD Mr Caoimhgín Ó Caoláin has called for Dáil time to be set aside for a debate on the matter. He said today the revelations were tantamount to an admission of guilt on the part of the British government. "The same defence was used by the notorious Chilean dictator Pinochet," Mr Ó Caoláin said.

Last week the Taoiseach confirmed the British government had handed over documents to the inquiry into whether there was British collusion in the bombings being conducted by Mr Justice Barron.

Mr Ó Caoláin today said it must now be established if the British judge was passed the files revealed today.

"We need a united call from the Dáil for full co-operation from the British government and an end to what is one of the biggest cover-ups in the past 30 years of conflict," the Sinn Féin TD said.
