The High Court is expected to be asked next week to approve a settlement of about £2 million in favour of a three-year-old severely disabled boy who sued the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin alleging negligence in the circumstances of his birth.

Daniel Stears, suing by his mother, Mrs Sharon Stears, of Measc Road, Artane, Dublin, was born at the Rotunda Hospital on April 5th, 1997. Liability has been admitted.
