World number one Serena Williams swept past sister Venus 6-4 6-3 to win the U.S. Open title at Flushing Medows last night.

Taking advantage of some erratic serving by her older-sister and two-time defending champion, who committed a staggering 11 double faults, Serena sped through the season's final grand slam in just over an hour.

It was the fourth time in last five grand slams that the sisters have battled for the title.

Once again, the contest failed to live up to the advance hype, all four of their grand slam clashes ending in disappointing straight sets wins.
