Poor weather on the northwest coast has today hampered the search for a Latvian man.

The Malin Head coast guard confirmed the search for Mr Armis Belodis (37) has been confined to the shoreline of the North Mayo coast.

Yesterday afternoon’s search was also hampered by the weather, although a helicopter was used yesterday morning.

Mr Belodis has been missing since Friday evening. He went rock fishing at Tippe pier near Ballyglass on Friday afternoon but failed to return in the evening. His girlfriend raised the alarm.

Mr Belodis, who works in a mushroom plant in Belmullet, is one of a group of 21 Latvians working in the area.

Gardaí at Belmullet are co-ordinating the search for Mr Belodis.
