Significant new money is coming on stream for science and technology research, with allocations for two programmes in the Estimates worth £85 million. The allocations come under the remit of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

Funding has increased by 132 per cent for the science and technology development programme to £60 million. About £30 million of this will go into the existing funding schemes run by Enterprise Ireland including the programmes for advanced technology. Another £30 million will be used to maintain the "RTI scheme" and £25 million is being allocated under the heading "technology foresight".
