More than 500,000 people have visited the Science Gallery in its first two years, making it one of the most popular free attractions in the country, writes Luke Cassidy.

The gallery at TCD received five times the original projected number of visitors since it opened in February 2008, and has received national and international awards.

Speaking at the gallery’s annual review, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture Mary Hanafin said the gallery brings compared it to a permanent young scientists exhibition, as it brought “energy and enthusiasm all year round”.
