Nineteen second level students were presented with awards yesterday for their entries in a nationwide human rights education competition organised by the East Timor Ireland Solidarity Campaign.

David Connolly of Colaiste Eoin in Finglas won the main prize in the competition, which was held to honour an East Timorese teacher, Domingos Segurado, who was killed by Indonesian troops five years ago.

The co ordinator of the campaign, Mr Tom Hyland, called on the Government to use its Presidency of the EU later this year to help find a solution to the conflict.
