An inquest heard yesterday how an eight-year-old schoolboy died after falling from his bike.
Roan Harrington, from Ballydonegan, Allihies, west Cork, was cycling near his home on August 28th last year when the freak incident happened. A pathologist told the inquest that a handlebar pierced the boy’s liver when he fell from the bike.
Julie Cooper, who has a holiday home in Allihies, found Roan lying “entangled in a bike” on the road. He told her “I’ve fallen off my bike.” An ambulance was called but Roan was pronounced dead en route to Bantry hospital.
