Scaffolders dispute talks next week

The Labour Relations Commission is expected to call both sides in the scaffolders dispute to talks early next week

The Labour Relations Commission is expected to call both sides in the scaffolders dispute to talks early next week. Attempts to broker a settlement to the five-week strike at informal talks this week have broken down.

Yesterday morning scaf folders in Dublin caused disruption to rush-hour traffic when they blocked O'Connell Bridge.

Further lay-offs are expected at sites this weekend as the effects of the strike continue to bite.

Over 1,000 building workers have been laid off to date.
