Irish home builder McInerney Holdings reported a 77 per cent rise in interim pre-tax profits to €7.3 million.

The rise came thanks to the strong performance of its Irish and Spanish operations and first-time contributions from its British home-building division.

Irish home sales increased by 50 per cent in the period to 369 units - putting the group on schedule to deliver its full-year sales target of 750 units.

Sales in Spain were strong at 94 units sold forward at its Los Flamingos site and they are due for completion by May 2003. Phase two at this site is also heavily booked with 54 units pre-sold. The group also generated a profit of €900,000 from a strategic site sale in Spain.

The British division completed reported a full order book and gave an upbeat outlook for the second half of the year.
