RUC officers released on bail

TWO RUC officers charged in connection with an assault on two men in Co Down have been released on bail

TWO RUC officers charged in connection with an assault on two men in Co Down have been released on bail. Mr John Mooney of Holywood RUC station faces three charges including grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Mr William Preston, also of Holywood RUC station, was charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and failing in his duty as a police officer.

Both men appeared at North Down Magistrates Court and are due to appear in court again on July 20th.
