RUC investigate £4m cigarette theft

Cigarettes worth £4 million were stolen in an armed raid on Belfast Docks last night.

Cigarettes worth £4 million were stolen in an armed raid on Belfast Docks last night.

The RUC say a gang of armed men locked staff of a shipping company at Westbank Road into a container before loading the tobacco haul on to four lorries and escaping.

An RUC spokesman said the cigarettes were bound for Belgium and had French and German writing on the packaging.
