Staff in RTE who use their bicycles for work will be paid a mileage allowance, similar to the amount paid for car journeys, the State's broadcasting service announced yesterday. RTE says it is the first company in the State to pay such a mileage allowance for bicycles. The rate for a bicycle is 50p per mile.

To help the new policy, there would be more bicycle parking facilities on the Donnybrook site, RTE said.
