Passenger numbers using Dublin Airport in January increased by 12 per cent over January 1995, according to the latest Aer Rianta traffic bulletin. The increase was due in part to the home rugby international with Scotland, which brought in an extra 15,000 visitors by air.

Shannon Airport reported a 12 per cent increase. A 16 per cent increase in UK business was helped by a new ShannonGatwick service operated by AB Shannon. Cork Airport's business grew by 13 per cent in January and extra charter flights boosted European passenger numbers by 52 per cent.
