The former Taoiseach, Mr Albert Reynolds, said yesterday that his declaration in the Dail register of members' interests was "in order" but that he would be double-checking it this week. He was speaking following reports that he has not declared that he is chairman of a company which it is intended to float on the US Nasdaq exchange next month.
Mr Reynolds told The Irish Times yesterday that he did not wish to make any comment on his chairmanship of Life Energy, a Dublin-based firm which has developed a thermo-chemical means of generating electricity through waste disposal in association with a US company.
"I am not commenting at all on any business involvements and as far as I am aware I am in order in the Dail, but I will check it this week," he said.
According to a report in the Sunday Business Post yesterday, Mr Reynolds has been associated for some years with the venture, which is aiming at the waste disposal business. It also has interests in pharmaceuticals, transport and biomedical technology.
