A company employing 180 people with disabilities has called on the Government to back its expansion plans. Gandon Enterprises, part of the Rehab Group, was established to create sustainable employment for people with disabilities. In all it employs 350 people with and without disabilities in hat-making, food-processing, recycling and other businesses.
It says it will double its workforce within five years if it continues to receive Government backing, which is currently being considered. The net cost to the Exchequer of the existing jobs is just £145 a year, said Gandon's chief executive, Ms Gina Quin.
