Rome - Italian actress, Pupella Maggio, who leapt to fame in the theatres of Naples before working with Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti, died yesterday at the age of 89 from a brain haemorrhage, hospital sources announced.

Hailing from a family of actors and acrobats, Maggio began her long acting career at the age of two and worked for most of her life in the theatre.
