Police in Northern Ireland have called off their appeal for information about missing Galway woman Bernie Garvan after she was found safe and well.

Ms Garvan, who is 54 and from the Milltown Road area of Tuam in Co Galway, wasbelieved to have left her silver car with a Republic of Ireland registration at a friend’s house in the Urney road area of Clady in Strabane, Co Tyrone yesterday.

A woman fitting her description was seen at about 6pm last night walking along the road towards the Clady Bridge into Co Donegal.

She was only dressed in a denim shirt and denim jeans even though it was raining heavily.

A PSNI spokesman said today she had been found.
