In its report published in May, the Independent Monitoring Commission blamed the UDA for his murder.

Chief Inspector Ian Gilchrist said: “This was a particularly brutal murder which I believe was carried out by members of the UDA.”

At least eight men have previously been arrested for questioning about the attack, all later released without charge.

When Mr Nelson died after six months in a coma, police revealed a £5,000 reward had been put up anonymously in a bid to identify his killers.
