A group of around 40 anti-globalisation protestors assembled in Dublin City centre today, two months after the May Day disturbances ended in a fracas between marchers and gardaí.

Today’s event was being organised by umbrella group Globalise Resistance. The demonstration is in defence of civil liberities.

Globalise Resistance is seeking to have the Public Order Act scrapped because they claim it is being used to curb public protest.

A Garda spokeswoman said the protest passed off peacefully.

The Garda Complaints Board is still investigating the May Day disturbances in which a number of protestors were injured.
