A NEW project aimed at recording the real story of the Irish peace process for future generations was launched at Dundalk Institute of Technology in Co Louth last night.
The study, Peace Process: Layers of Meaning, will combine about 100 interviews with the key Irish and international figures involved and recollections of members of the public from the Border area whose lives were affected by the Troubles.
These accounts will be held in an archive under embargo for 40 years but, with the permission of participants, some of the material will be used in a forthcoming book and other publications dealing with conflict resolution.
It is hoped this embargo will encourage those interviewed to speak more openly about their experiences.
