A German Jesuit priest was killed in East Timor on Saturday night, Germany's Catholic News Agency reported yesterday.
The priest, named as Father Karl Albrecht (70), was shot and killed by an intruder, the news agency quoted a priest at the Munich headquarters of the Upper German Jesuit Province as saying.
Father Albrecht founded the Indonesian branch of the Caritas charity organisation and began church work 10 years ago in East Timor.
It was not immediately possible to obtain independent confirmation of the report of his death.
