The English Premier League remains without a title sponsor after brewers Budweiser denied being involved in the final round of bidding for the lucrative contract.

According to BBC OnlineKerry Babe, Marketing Director for Anheuser-Busch Europe - brewers of Budweiser - said: "Budweiser, the official sponsors of the 2002 Fifa World Cup, is committed to supporting football on a global scale."

The Premier League is seeking a new title sponsor after present sponsors, Carling, pulled out of negotiations to renew their deal which runs out at the end of the season.

Carling have sponsored the league since its inception in 1992. Chief spokeperson for the league, Phillip French, remains confident of securing a new sponsor despite this setback with Budweiser.

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live,French said; "I can confirm that there is still a huge number of interested parties and, since Carling's unilateral decision to withdraw from negotiations, we have even more interest.

"Obviously we want to conclude a deal as fast as we possibly can ... just as soon as our negotiating team have decided what is the best offer on the table."
