THOUGH THE triumphant Irish Paralympic team are not finished yet in their clamour for more medals, thoughts are already turning to the homecoming.

As of now, the plan is for a public event at Terminal 1 in Dublin Airport on Monday when the team arrive back. The CityJet flight will land at 6.50pm, but they are not likely to come through until 7.30pm.

Full details will be announced on Friday and individual athletes will have their own homecoming celebrations.

Paralympics Ireland is anxious to avoid a repeat of the fiasco surrounding the return of Ireland’s Olympic athletes where a proposed homecoming had to be rescheduled because the athletes were not consulted.

“I know the athletes will be tired, but they’ll get a chance to see their family and friends and the public at Dublin Airport and then go home,” said Paralympics Ireland chief Liam Harbison.
